About Maxi
After 12 years of yoga practice, trainings and teaching, Maxi has put together what she believes are the most important parts of teaching Yoga to children and families. That it is fun and comes from the heart so that everyone will be their best yogi-selves.
Maxi has a B.S. in film production from Boston University and has been a lifelong athlete including running marathons, playing baseball, volleyball and several other sports. She spends most of her time with her husband and stepson running, playing basketball, soccer, rock climbing and baseball. Lots and lots of baseball. She also teaches a yoga class on the off-season to the 12-16 years olds on the Boricua All-stars Baseball Team in East Harlem, NY. She has found that Yoga has been the perfect balance of her athletic, spiritual (‘be a nice person’) and professional life.
Maxi is certified through Karma Kids with Shari Vilchez-Blatt to teach yoga to kids and teens. She trained in Post-Natal / Mom & Baby Yoga with Jyothi Larson (author of Yoga Mom, Buddha Baby) and is certified to work with Children with Special Needs by Craig Hanauer and Leah Kalish. She has completed Pre-Natal Training with Juliana Secches and most recently studied the Kundalini based yoga training, Radiant Child with Shakta Khalsa. Maxi is certified in Adult, Child & Infant CPR/AED.
Her own yoga practice has included studies in Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Restorative and Ashtanga. She has completed her 200 hr adult teacher training studying under Kelly Morris in the Conquering Lion Training program with a focus on asana, meditation, Buddhist and Tibetan studies. Her studies continue with courses through ACI (Asian Classics Institute) and YSI (Yoga Studies Institute) as well as any training she can find on how to work with children to transform their lives.
